The Yamamoto (138) is a Corvette Transport that was present at the Battle of Klendathu.
History
The Yamamoto was present during the Battle of Klendathu when Corvette Transports deployed Mobile Infantry to Klendathu's surface. Whilst in orbit, however, the Yamamoto was hit by plasma launched from the surface and heavily damaged.
After the battle, the heavily damaged Yamamoto returned to Fleet Battlestation Ticonderoga where it was docked despite still being on fire.
Notes
- The ship was likely named after Admiral of the Fleet (Japan) Isoroku Yamamoto, the commander-in-chief of the Combined Fleet during World War II, a graduate of the Imperial Japanese Naval Academy and a student of the U.S. Naval War College and of Harvard University. He is most well known for planning the attack on Pearl Harbor.
