The United Citizen Federation is the unified government of Earth, all inhabited Sol System planets as well as its associated colonies, territories and outposts. The Federation is a veteran-led, republic-style parliamentary system of government based in Geneva, Switzerland and ruled by the authority of the Federal Council in all matters except those directly related to the military.
The United Citizen Federation consists of two branches:
- UCF Administration (Executive & Legislative)
- Federal Armed Services (Enforcement)
All Federal Council members are selected from the pool of national governors within each star system under the jurisdiction of the Federation. Each Council member is able to cast a single vote pertaining to all matters directly affecting the Federation.
Every government position within the Federation (from the most junior member of a Council member's staff to the Council members themselves) can only be filled by a Citizen. Civilians are unable to apply for any government position given that they have not yet proven they will keep the interests of the Federation first and foremost within their heart, defending them with their life if necessary. Citizenship (or franchise) is earned by civilians primarily through a voluntary term of service with the Federal Service of no less than two years (including swearing an oath to that effect).
Direct control of the main branches of the Federal Armed Services are placed under singular command of a Sky Marshal during periods of declared war.
The current Commander in Chief of the Federal Armed Services (the military arm of the United Citizen Federation) is Sky Marshal Enolo Phid.

The Federation was founded after a time known as "The Disorders."

Added by VARGRThe United Citizen Federation determined that the greatest force on Earth was the people who were willing to take up arms in defense of ones beliefs therefore a criteria for citizenship was made where service to the Federation through methods such as military service were required to obtain Citizenship. According to Johnny Rico's text book (used in the History and Moral Philosophy course), a citizen accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic (i.e. the human race).
Civilians are not discriminated against and have more or less equal rights, with the exceptions being the right to vote and government-subsidized tuition fees. Citizens have more ease with licences such as a licence to have children. Sexism and racism are nonexistent in the Federation. This is evident as Dizzy Flores is quarterback on Rico's fieldball team and Tehat Meru becomes Sky Marshal, the highest rank of the Federation military.
Systems, Planets and ColoniesEdit
The United Citizen Federation consists of a number of star systems, planets, colonies and orbital installations all providing strategic resources key to the continued economic prosperity of the human race. While most of the human population is concentrated within the Sol system, there are a number of outer colonies that provide economic opportunities for civilians and citizens while also supporting the Federal Armed Services in their mandate of security and defence.

The Federation is ruled by the Federal Council, which is based in Geneva, Switzerland. The military consists of the Mobile Infantry (ground forces) and Fleet (space naval forces), along with several auxiliary forces.

- The uniforms of the Federal Service are styled after those of the Wehrmacht.
- The Federation symbology is commonly mistaken as having being taken from Nazi Germany of the 20th century. Many of its symbols (such as the eagles on the Federal Armed Services uniforms) are actually based off of those used in 20th century American culture and military institutions.
