The Roughnecks is a unit that Johnnie Rico belongs to. It is sometimes known as Rasczak's Roughnecks after their commanding officer Lieutenant Rasczak; after his death in combat, the unit is rechristened Rico's Roughnecks after their new CO, newly-minted commanding officer Rico.

Starship Troopers novelEdit

Rasczak's Roughnecks, formally Second Platoon, George Company, Third Regiment, First Division, was lead by Lieutenant Rasczak until he was killed in action. After his death, Sergeant Jelal became the acting commander. The Roughnecks vote unanimously to rename themselves Jelly's Jaguars, after their new lieutenant, but Jelal vetoes the notion.

Later, after becoming an officer, Juan Rico become the leader of the platoon Rico's Roughnecks.

Starship Troopers animeEdit

Rasczak's Roughnecks (ラスチャック愚連隊 Rasuchakku Gurentai) never appears nor gets mentioned in the series. However, the last track from the anime's original soundtrack is called "The Proud Rasczak's Roughnecks" (誇り高きラスチャック愚連隊 Hokoritakaki Rasuchakku Gurentai).

Roughnecks 2-0, or Rasczak's Roughnecks, was lead by Jean Rasczak. After he was killed in Whiskey Outpost, Johnny Rico took over the leadership and the platoon is renamed Rico's Roughnecks. Starship Troopers

Nearly 10 years later, Johnny Rico, now a General and in charge of the L-6 Satellite Base, is still the leader of the Roughnecks. The Roughnecks now is an elite troop and the only unit possesses the Marauder MK-II. Starship Troopers: Invasion
