The Recon Cruiser is a type of starship deployed by the United Citizen Federation Fleet prior to the First Bug War. After the discovery of the Arachnid species on Klendathu, a Recon Cruiser Cortez was sent to investigate and make first contact. Although the ship was never directly in contact, a shuttle deployed from it as well as several of its beacons were attacked by Arachnid forces.
