The First Bug War, also known as the First Interstellar War,[1] was a conflict fought between the United Citizen Federation, and the Arachnid Species. After several Human-Arachnid conflicts on colony worlds like Port Joe Smith, the war officially began when a meteor came out from the Arachnid Quarantine Zone and struck the city of Buenos Aires. The Federation immediately claimed the Arachnids were responsible and declared war, with the conflict lasting for over 5 years.[2] During the course of the War other meteors were detected heading towards Earth, and like the original the Federation claimed they were Arachnid attacks. Ultimately, it was Arachnids who were the aggressors.
History[]
Prelude[]
The United Citizen Federation declared a quarantine zone in Arachnid space. Despite this Mormon colonists ignored this quarantine and founded Port Joe Smith on a world in Arachnid space. Eventually the Arachnids reacted and massacred the Mormon settlers.
Seeing Humanity threatening their space the Arachnids fired an asteroid towards Earth in retaliation. During its flight the asteroid collided with a Corvette transport the Rodger Young causing damage to the ships comms preventing it from warning anyone.
The asteroid remained undetected until it was too late reaching Earth and impacting its surface at Buenos Aires. Millions were instantly killed including the parents of Johnny Rico.

Battle of Klendathu[]

The Battle of Klendathu refers to the invasion of Federation Forces on the Bug homeworld Klendathu. The attack was a complete defeat, resulting in a full retreat after only a few minutes of battle. Heavy casualties were recorded for the United Citizen Federation, the largest numbers suffered by the Mobile Infantry.
Raid on Tango Urilla[]

After the disaster on Klendathu and the resignation of Sky Marshal Dienes, the new Sky Marshal Tehat Meru designed a strategy to defeat the Arachnids in the Klendathu system by raiding the outer planets in the system one by one.

The Battle of New Kansas was a engagement during the First Bug War on the Federation colony New Kansas when the Arachnids invaded.

The Battle of Zulu Alpha was a disastrous battle during the First Bug War on the planet Zulu Alpha deep inside the Arachnid Quarantine Zone.
Battle of Hesperus[]

The Battle of Hesperous is a battle that took place five years after the Battle of Klendathu when Arachnids invaded the mining planet Hesperus, which was used by the United Citizen Federation to fuel its Fleet. As such, the United Citizen Federation launched a counter-attack against the planet to retake it.
